1. Be my guest. "Go ahead and do it." It is usually used in a negative response to someone who wants to do something you generally disapprove but too tired to argue. Example: I've told you that's a bad idea but if you really want to do it, be my guest! 2. He gave me the cold shoulder. He appeared to be so much above me and entirely neglected me. He paid no respect to me (for what I said or what I did). To give people the cold shoulder means to respond aloofly to them or to rebuff or snub them. 3. He hit the roof! He went nuts! He became so angry! He lost his temper. 4. He's bad medicine. He's not good for us. Usually this is used when a person was brought to a team to help but it turned out that he did more harm than good then you could say "He's bad medicine." 5. Here you go. You could use this in a few different occasions. i) When someone asks you for something and as you give this something to him/her you could say "Here you go." ii) When you wanted someone to do something and then he finally did it you could applaud his effort and say "Here you go!" iii) When you simply want to say "Yes!" as a form of approval you could also say "Here you go!" 6. I'll say. It means "If you ask me." or "Yes, in my opinion." It's an expression to show one's support of an opinion . 7. It really got to me. It really annoyed me. It angered me. It agitated me. It upsets me. It really got my attention and made me uneasy/unhappy. It got on my nerves. 8. It was all in vain. It all failed. It was a total failure. 9. It's a fact. Usually you say this after someone questioned your statement and you simply wanted to reiterate that you know this for a fact. Example: John: How do you know he's not there? You: he was with me. It's a fact. 10. It's up for sale. Nothing fancy here. It's for sale. 11. Like what? An expression asking for for examples. John: You made so many mistakes. Mary: Like what? |
