但要是不用倒装可以?

用第一种语序
in the campus where they live
实际是定语从句，where they live作campus的定语从句

第一种OK，第二种完全错误。

应该是“ON the campus where they live”，因为 “where they live”是从句，而非主句。

P.S.：Native English speakers would say‘live ON campus’, not ‘live in campus’.
