This is AP News Minute.
It could be more of bad news for already ravaged sections of Myanmar. The UN says another cyclone may be forming near the South-East Asia nation. The world meteorological center says the potential for development of the significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours is good. Right now, more than 2 million people in Myanmar are living in conditions that are described as miserable.
The official death toll in China following Monday’s earthquake is 15,000 but certain to go higher. Rescue workers estimate 80% of the residents in some towns near the epicenter are dead. Helicopters are now air-lifting food, water, and medical supplies to survivors.
President Bush is in Isreal celebrating that country’s 60th anniversary. During his stay, the president will make a new push for peace in the Middle East. Later Bush will travel to Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Hilary Clinton says the race for the Democratic presidential nomination isn’t over yet. She easily defeated Barack Obama in West Virginia’s primary, getting 67% of the vote. And she trails in the overall race with only 5 primaries to go. Kentucky and Oregon are up next week.
