The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has given Shiah gunmen in the country's second city Basra a deadline of 72 hours to lay down their weapons. Iraqi government troops have been involved in a second day of operations against the militias including supporters of the radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr who's now called for negotiations. Lay down their weapons within 3 days or else face the most sever penalties or that may mean a practice is not clear. Whether the fices on the ground will obey Nouri al-Maliki's demand is also difficult to judge. But the political leadership of the Sadr movement have said if the Iraqi prime minister leaves Basra they will be prepare to send a team to solve the problems through negotiations.
